GLULAM’S PROPORTIES
It’s resistant against earthquake. It exhibits a more stable and favorable behavior in the earthquakes, compared to reinforced concrete and steel structures. Unlike, other structural elements, Glulam absorbed to pressure and tensile force.
Although timber is a very light material, is capable of handling heavy loads. The same load-carrying capacity is more than steel.
Glulam has the exceptional behavior of combustion. During fire, it is more durable than other building materials and the load bearing capacity is greater.
The burning behaviour of laminated wooden beams is only 2 cm in 30 minutes during the fire. Thanks to this property the buildings in which Glulam beams are used can stand for hours during contact with fire.
It’s economical. Modern dry massive timber products make it possible to use high quality prefabricated building elements.
Due to the short time assembly, laminted timber beam costs are lower than the others’.
It’s decorative and aesthetic.
Glulam Beams can be used in different structures such as wide and single-spaned structures such as; Auditoriums, theaters, concert halls, geometric structures; geodesic domes, normal domes etc.
It has exceptional insulation characteristics. It’s sound and heat insulating.
Maintenance costs are very low. Proper and periodic maintanence is performed, this makes the material durable.
Re-usable without additional cost and can be recycled.
It’s kiln dried.(swellin is minimized)
